Softball Recap: Westview Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Westview waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Adamsville Cardinals a 4-0 shutout.

McCall Sims made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lakyn Rogers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Sarah Byars was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases.

Westview pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Adamsville, Milan, and Milan. As for the Cardinals, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Westview will welcome Milan at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Adamsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
