The Grace Prep Lions will challenge the Brentwood Christian Bears at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Grace Prep has given up an average of 29.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Grace Prep faced off against Hyde Park on Friday. The Lions lost 34-14 to the Panthers. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Although Grace Prep took the loss, they still got scores from David Jergenson and Jesse Zimmerman.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Brentwood Christian's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They took a hard 33-14 fall against Grace Community. The Bears were down 27-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Grace Prep will have to contain Gabe Washington as he made an impact in Brentwood Christian's last game. He picked up 149 receiving yards and one TD. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Jennings, who threw for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Brentwood Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. In that department, Trey Campbell was the leader with two. Another thorn in Grace Community's side was Luke Weed, who picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Brentwood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Grace Prep, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Grace Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 264.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brentwood Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 198.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Grace Prep took a serious blow against Brentwood Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 49-18. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 28-6.
