Baseball Recap: Naperville North Victorious

Naperville North came out on top against Neuqua Valley on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Huskies walked away with a 6-2 win over the Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Yash Desai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Naperville North is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 10-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Naperville North let Max Steele and Matt Cantrell run wild. Steele went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Cantrell went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Steele a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Vorwick, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Naperville North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Neuqua Valley only managed six hits.

Naperville North has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Neuqua Valley, their record is now 11-13-1.

Naperville North will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
