Softball Recap: Marquette Sentinels vs. Escanaba Eskymos
Marquette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 9-5 to the Escanaba Eskymos. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Eskymos this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Monday.
Charlye Swajanen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Haynes, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Marquette's defeat dropped their record down to 19-16. As for Escanaba, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Marquette is set to take on their familiar foe Menominee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Escanaba will face off against rival Gladstone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eskymos have won three straight at home, while the Braves won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
