Preview: San Bernardino Cardinals vs. Walnut Mustangs
The San Bernardino Cardinals will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Walnut Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but San Bernardino had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down Miller 44-27.
San Bernardino's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Hernandez led the charge by rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Hernandez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Xavier Alvarez also helped out as he racked up 121 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Walnut waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 31-17 win over Los Amigos.
Among those leading the charge was Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Brenden Neeley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Their wins bumped San Bernardino to 8-4 and Walnut to 6-6.
