Baseball Recap: Rowlett Picks Up Ninth Straight Win on the Road

While Rowlett's victory against North Garland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Raiders on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Tyler Holmes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Landon Bertucci, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

Rowlett's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for North Garland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rowlett will challenge rival Sachse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.3, the Mustangs 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, North Garland is set to square off against their familiar foe Garland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
