Baseball Recap: Seton Catholic Central Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Seton Catholic Central nor Chenango Valley made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Warriors 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brian Dempsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Seton Catholic Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Seton Catholic Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Rundell, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Rundell's first of the season.

Seton Catholic Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Chenango Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Seton Catholic Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
