Softball Recap: Merced Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Merced barely beat Los Banos the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Merced never let Los Banos get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Haiden Priddell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bree Pimentel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Liliana Meneley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Merced always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Los Banos only posted an OBP of .222.

Merced pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Los Banos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coincidentally, Merced and Los Banos will both be playing Atwater the next time they take the field. Merced will host Atwater at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Los Banos will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
