Basketball Game Preview: Crete Cardinals vs. Wahoo Warriors

Crete and Wahoo are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Crete Cardinals will face off against the Wahoo Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wahoo took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Crete, who comes in off a win.

Crete is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since January 4th on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Schuyler with a sharp 57-35 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Wahoo fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Malcolm on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 50-42 to the Clippers. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Crete will have to keep a close watch on Claire Emerson and Gretchen Seagren, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wahoo's prior game. Emerson posted 16 points, while Seagren put up 15 points.

Crete is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Wahoo, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Crete was able to grind out a solid win over Wahoo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 49-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crete since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
