Baseball Recap: Mt. Mansfield Falls Short Against Ranked South Burlington

Mt. Mansfield faced South Burlington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Langdon Hazen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Mt. Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for South Burlington, they pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Mt. Mansfield nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
