Basketball Recap: Capitan Takes a Loss

Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 48-37 to the Estancia Bears. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-37 back in December of 2024.

Jhenna Valencia was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards for Estancia. That's the most rebounds Valencia has posted since back in February of 2024. Brook Eister was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Estancia, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Capitan will venture away from home to take on Magdalena at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Magdalena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Estancia, they will host East Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
