Baseball Game Preview: Taylor County Bulldogs vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

The Taylor County Bulldogs will head out to face off against the St. John Paul II Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Taylor County took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They blew past Valwood 10-4.

Tallyn Harden looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyler Campbell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Ondash, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. John Paul II duked it out with Leon on Tuesday. Everything went St. John Paul II's way against Leon as St. John Paul II made off with a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

St. John Paul II saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Helbling, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Helbling hit this season. Another was Wyatt Visnovske, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Taylor County pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. John Paul II, their record is now 9-3.

Taylor County was able to grind out a solid win over St. John Paul II in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taylor County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
