Baseball Game Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. Olive Branch Conquistadors

For the second straight game, Grenada will face off against Olive Branch. The Chargers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Conquistadors at 7:00 p.m. Grenada's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Olive Branch's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Grenada beat Olive Branch 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Conquistadors: they've now won six in a row.

Carson Renfro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Drew Klinck and Daniel Hopper did most of the damage at the plate: Klinck scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hopper scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Hopper a new career-high. Ty Edwards was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Grenada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Olive Branch is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8. As for Grenada, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
