Softball Game Preview: Lowellville Rockets vs. Western Reserve Blue Devils

The Lowellville Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Western Reserve Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lowellville has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Lowellville after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Springfield by a score of 11-10.

Natalie Macejko stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Kestner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Western Reserve was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 20-2 to Mineral Ridge.

Western Reserve saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cloeigh Endsley, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Endsley has hit this season.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lowellville, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Western Reserve's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lowellville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .450. It's a different story for Western Reserve, though, as they've only averaged .242. Will they be able to contain Lowellville's hitters?

Lowellville might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Western Reserve in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
