Basketball Recap: Riverton Silverwolves vs. Herriman Mustangs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Riverton can now relate to. They came up short against the Herriman Mustangs on Friday, falling 75-53. The defeat continues a trend for the Silverwolves in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Silverwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Robbins, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Evan Berrett was another key player, putting up 14 points and six assists.
Even though they lost, Riverton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their 14th loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Carlo Mulford was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds for Herriman. Those six boards gave Mulford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Barclay, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds.
Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Herriman, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Herriman, they will square off against Lehi at 11:10 a.m. on Monday. Herriman has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 219 points over their last three games.
