Baseball Preview: Center Grove Trojans vs. Franklin Central Flashes
The Center Grove Trojans will take on the Franklin Central Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Center Grove is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Center Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Perry Meridian get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Franklin Central not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 16-0). They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Decatur Central. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flashes.
Anthony Santellana was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Piersall, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Franklin Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Decatur Central only posted an OBP of .211.
Franklin Central's win bumped their record up to 7-19. As for Center Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.
Center Grove took their win against Franklin Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
