Chaparral hasn't had much luck against Murrieta Mesa recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pumas will venture away from home to challenge the Rams at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Chaparral is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Katella on Saturday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Pumas not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Keira Beierly, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Vasquez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Beierly wasn't the only one making solid contact: Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Katella only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa got the win against Chaparral last Wednesday by a conclusive 13-7. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Savannah Demary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Taelyn Holley was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Lilly Hauser was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Murrieta Mesa now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Chaparral, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Chaparral hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Murrieta Mesa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Chaparral might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from Murrieta Mesa in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Can the Pumas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
