Volleyball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Agua Fria Owls

The Mesquite Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Agua Fria Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mesquite is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Estrella Foothills, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mesquite had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-22, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Agua Fria was able to grind out a solid win over Cactus on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.

Agua Fria had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-19.

Mesquite better keep an eye on Charles Tacker. He was instrumental in Agua Fria's win, getting 23 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Tacker has posted since back in April of 2024. Micah McCalla also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Agua Fria's record is now 15-5. As for Mesquite, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
