Baseball Game Preview: Romeoville Spartans vs. Downers Grove North Trojans

The Romeoville Spartans will head out to take on the Downers Grove North Trojans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Romeoville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Yorkville by a score of 6-1.

Meanwhile, Downers Grove North entered their tilt with Plainfield East on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Bengals get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly three runs.

The result came thanks to Jimmy Reilly's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Downers Grove North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Cabaj, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Brady Schallmoser, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
