Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lumberton). They put the hurt on the West Orange-Stark Mustangs with a sharp 18-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won nine in a row.

Hudson Emerson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Verde, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Harmse, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lumberton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lumberton's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Orange-Stark, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15-1 record this season.
