The Westmont Warriors will challenge the Los Altos Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Westmont's victory against Leland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors skirted past the Chargers 3-2.
Regan Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Westmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Los Altos waltzed into their match last Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Titans by a score of 10-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 1, 2018, but that streak is no more.
Los Altos let Makayla Mase and Lila Neugebauer run wild. Mase got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Neugebauer went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Neugebauer has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Neal, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Los Altos' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Westmont, their win bumped their record up to 13-14.
Westmont took their victory against Los Altos when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
