Recap: Lake Marion Gators vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins
The Lake Marion Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-35 loss at the hands of Orangeburg-Wilkinson. While losing is never fun, Lake Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 27th).
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jahkye Deas, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Mason Miles, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jason Booker, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Jamison, who scored 11 points.
Lake Marion bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Lake Marion will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against First Baptist School at 4:30 p.m. on December 19th. Orangeburg-Wilkinson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Battery Creek at 7:30 p.m. on December 26th.
