AJ Diaddezio made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Diaddezio was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tyler Timdall was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Frantz, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Pope John Paul II always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Merion Area only posted an OBP of .344.

Meanwhile, Pottstown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 7-1 to Pottsgrove on Wednesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 19 in a row.

Pottstown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Derstine, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Everything went Pope John Paul II's way against Pottstown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pope John Paul II made off with a 10-0 win. Will Pope John Paul II repeat their success, or does Pottstown has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
