Softball Recap: Ryle Raiders vs. Cooper Jaguars
Ryle proved they can win big last Monday (they won by six) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Cooper Jaguars. With that win, Ryle brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Madison Goddard was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 13 hits. Goddard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Goddard was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Zoe Coop was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double. Makenna Hirshey was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Ryle's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Cooper, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
