Weddington waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They took down the Porter Ridge Pirates 67-52. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Pirates are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Weddington's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Porter Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.

Looking ahead, Weddington will take on Cuthbertson at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Weddington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Cuthbertson likes a good challenge.
