Baseball Game Preview: Hawken Hawks vs. Orange Lions

For the second straight game, Hawken will face off against Orange. The Hawks will welcome the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hawken has five straight victories, Orange has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Hawken nor Orange made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Hawks never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Lions on their field since May 20, 2022.

The result came thanks to Ethan Gipson's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddox Ruch was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eli Mester, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Hawken, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
