Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. The Pinnacle Timberwolves
The Arrupe Jesuit Generals fought the good fight in their overtime match against The Pinnacle Timberwolves on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 42-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Arrupe Jesuit has suffered against The Pinnacle since February 11, 2017.
Arrupe Jesuit lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ari Cowans, who scored 16 points. David Diaz was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Arrupe Jesuit were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Pinnacle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yahir Chavira, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Chavira pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Arellano, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Arrupe Jesuit are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for The Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 1-5.
Arrupe Jesuit will head out on the road to challenge Lake County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Lake County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for The Pinnacle, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Sheridan is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
