Softball Game Preview: Escondido Cougars vs. Valley Center Jaguars

Escondido is 2-8 against Valley Center since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Escondido is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They fell 6-1 to Fallbrook.

Audrey Dabelstein made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Valley Center lost 15-1 to Westview on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Valley Center saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Cueva, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Escondido's loss dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Valley Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-18.

Escondido couldn't quite get it done against Valley Center when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 6-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
