Basketball Recap: Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK Comes Up Short

If Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK was riding high fresh off their 51-30 takedown of Kellenberg Memorial back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK Hawks opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-47 loss to the Kennedy Catholic Gaels. The loss was the Hawks' first of the season.

Ashari Emuze was her usual excellent self, putting up 28 points for Kennedy Catholic. Another player making a difference was Reese Carlo, who posted 13 points.

Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Kennedy Catholic, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Academy Charter at 12:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will face off against Fontbonne Hall Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
