Baseball Preview: Bath County Wildcats vs. Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls
Bath County is a perfect 7-0 against Owsley County since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will host the Owls / Lady Owls at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Thursday, Bath County needed a bit of extra time to put away Berea. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 27th.

Cooper Cox and Memphis Beadle were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Cox struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Meanwhile, Beadle didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Bath County is 2-1 when Cox allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-10-1 otherwise. At bat, Cox went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Beadle went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Cox a new career-high.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Dillon, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Owsley County came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over Buckhorn on Tuesday.
Bath County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11-1. As for Owsley County, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Everything went Bath County's way against Owsley County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Bath County made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls / Lady Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
