Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. McKinley Tech Trainers

The Roosevelt Roughriders will head out on the road to square off against the McKinley Tech Trainers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. McKinley Tech took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Roosevelt, who comes in off a win.

While Roughriders fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They had just enough and edged out Coolidge 6-5 on Wednesday. The Roughriders haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Lyndon Hughes, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Destin Norman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coolidge only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, McKinley Tech lost 11-1 to School Without Walls on Friday. The Trainers haven't had much luck with the Penguins recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Roosevelt skirted past McKinley Tech 5-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Will the Roughriders repeat their success, or do the Trainers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
