Soccer Game Preview: Bishop McNamara vs. Chicago Christian

The Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish will face off against the Chicago Christian Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Bishop McNamara's offense. They came up short against Wheaton Academy on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Bishop McNamara can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Wheaton Academy are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, Chicago Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Schaumburg Christian. That's two games in a row now that Chicago Christian have lost by just one goal.

Their goal came courtesy of Lauris Thomson, who's now up to two this season.

Chicago Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Bishop McNamara, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything went Bishop McNamara's way against Chicago Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Bishop McNamara made off with a 9-0 win. Do the Fightin' Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
