Soccer Game Preview: South Dade vs. Palmetto

The South Dade Buccaneers will challenge the Palmetto Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in South Dade's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three contests.

South Dade is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Southwest 4-0. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Eagles are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Dade hit Southwest with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emilio Mollinedo, Jerry Marjolains, Keller Andrade, and Gabriel Robles.

Meanwhile, Palmetto hasn't lost a match since November 14, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game last Wednesday. They and Belen Jesuit finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

South Dade is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those 12 games. Palmetto's draw makes their record 7-2-4 this season.

South Dade beat Palmetto by a goal when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Dade since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
