League recap: Pickens County extends winning streak with victory over Parrish

Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Region 5 this week, Pickens County beat Parrish 70-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Marion County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Aaron Pollard threw for 104 and 1 touchdown and Jordan Wallace had 61 yards receiving. On the ground Trevor Walker chipped in 151 yards. Dorryl Swanigan helped Marion County's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 43 yards.

Swanigan provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Red Raiders beat Lynn.

Walker was the best running back in the league this week. In 4 carries, he ran for 151 yards as Marion County topped the Bears. Swanigan also contributed to the rushing game with 157 yards on the ground.

Marion County's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Red Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pollard has thrown for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Swanigan has 3 catches for 65 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pickens County takes on Hubbertville. At the moment, the Tornadoes are in first, while the Lions are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Pickens County takes on Hubbertville. The Tornadoes have allowed 56 points this season, while Lamar Harris' team has given up 125.

Russell Funk's team led 1A Region 5 in scoring this week by notching 78 points on Lynn. Swanigan ran for 157 yards and caught 1 pass for 43 yards in the win.
