Baseball Recap: Loyola Starts Season with Win at Home

Loyola gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the North Saxons by a score of 6-3. The win was familiar territory for the Cubs, who have now won four games in a row dating back to last season.

Noah Mendez looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Luca Marucci was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Walter Urbon was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Loyola will face off against JSerra Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Bishop Montgomery on the 18th.
