Softball Recap: Normal Community Beats Danville for Their Sixth Straight Win

Normal Community extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 10-9 in the process. Everything went their way against the Danville Vikings as they made off with a 9-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Ironmen also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ava Prevo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tatum Yokley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Baughman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Normal Community hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

As for Danville, they moved to 9-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Danville's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Foster, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Coming up, Normal Community will challenge Bloomington Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Danville, they will take on Bloomington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
