Basketball Recap: Pershing County Comes Up Short

Pershing County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Tahoe Lakers. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 55-48 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Pershing County lost, don't look at Travis Donaldson. Despite the final result, he posted 23 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Rhodes, who put up 11 points and five steals.

North Tahoe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Seth Hendricks led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and 19 rebounds. Those 25 points gave Hendricks a new career-high. Cormac Springsteel was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards.

Pershing County's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for North Tahoe, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5.

Pershing County has already played their next match, a 65-17 win against Coral Academy of Science - Reno on the 7th. As for North Tahoe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-31 victory against Sierra Lutheran on the 7th.
