Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Logan Barbee and Justin Liu

Northwood was the 68-60 winner over Sage Hill when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northwood Timberwolves took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sage Hill Lightning on Friday.

Justin Liu and Logan Barbee certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Liu almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, while Barbee went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points. Liu is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played.

Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Sage Hill, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Northwood and Sage Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Northwood (ranked 403rd) will meet St. Margaret's (ranked 883rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Sage Hill (ranked 321st) will meet Laguna Beach (ranked 688th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
