Baseball Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Grayson County Cougars

The Owensboro Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Grayson County Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Owensboro will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Owensboro's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Ohio County with a sharp 10-0 victory.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Grayson County faced off against Edmonson County on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over the Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Levi Rogers was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jett Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Chase Baunach was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Grayson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edmonson County only posted a batting average of .276.

Grayson County now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Owensboro, their record now sits at 11-8.

Owensboro beat Grayson County 9-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
