Baseball Recap: Xaverian Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Xaverian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Monsignor McClancy Crusaders by a score of 5-3. The Clippers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Jordan Steiger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Xaverian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Zafra, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Zafra's first of the season. Danny Cronin was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Xaverian now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Monsignor McClancy, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xaverian will challenge St. Dominic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bayhawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Clippers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monsignor McClancy, they will take on Holy Cross at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
