Basketball Recap: Centennial Knights vs. Northview Titans
The Centennial Knights struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Northview Titans had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Centennial took a serious blow against the Titans, falling 53-25. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Titans are ranked 146th).
Despite the loss, Centennial still got an impressive performance from Jasmine Perez, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamond Leslie, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Northview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Milan Johnson out in front who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kelly Reynolds, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Centennial has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which is still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season. As for Northview, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will square off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Springs is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home. Northview's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
