Softball Recap: Jamesville-Dewitt's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Jamesville-DeWitt dropped their record down to 9-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Central Square Redhawks by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

As for Central Square, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Central Square's part, Caytlin Redeye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. Redeye has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Upham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton St.Clair, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Jamesville-DeWitt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Square, they will be playing at home against Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
