The Southwestern Warriors will square off against the Perry County Central Commodores at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Southwestern knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Perry County Central likes a good challenge.
If Southwestern beats Perry County Central with 11 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Warriors came out on top against Russell County by a score of 11-7 on Friday.
Pierce Jasper made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Mick Miller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jonah Brock, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Southwestern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Perry County Central's offense. They fell 5-0 to Wolfe County on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Commodores let down their fans at home.
Perry County Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Maggard, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Southwestern pushed their record up to 16-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Perry County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
