Basketball Recap: Athens Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Athens hadn't done well against Hartselle recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Athens Golden Eagles came out on top against the Hartselle Tigers by a score of 54-41. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 61-49 defeat.

Athens has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Hartselle, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will face off against Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hartselle, they will venture away from home to challenge Muscle Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
