Basketball Game Preview: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. River Mill Jaguars

The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals and the River Mill Jaguars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Cornerstone Charter ended up a good deal behind Chatham Charter and lost 61-47. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 16-10 in the first quarter.

Cornerstone Charter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Shaffrey, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, and Charles Walker, who posted nine points and eight boards. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Lake Bristol was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 14 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, River Mill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford Prep.

Cornerstone Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for River Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Cornerstone Charter strolled past River Mill when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 70-56. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
