Volleyball Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Bellmont Braves

DeKalb is 0-10 against Bellmont since October of 2014 but things could change on Thursday. The DeKalb Barons will head out to square off against the Bellmont Braves at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as DeKalb comes in on three and Bellmont on six.

Last Monday, DeKalb earned a 3-1 victory over Garrett.

DeKalb walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20.

DeKalb relied on the efforts of Lilli Vangessel, who had 11 digs, and Sophia Jackson, who hit 66.7% for six killsseven digs, three aces, and two blocks. Jackson is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 18 or more in the last ten games she's played dating back to last season.

DeKalb was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last seven matchups.

Meanwhile, Bellmont made easy work of Norwell on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Bellmont never let Norwell on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-10, 26-24.

DeKalb is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Bellmont, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
