Football Game Preview: Santa Teresa Saints vs. James Lick Comets

The Santa Teresa Saints will challenge the James Lick Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Santa Teresa 5.6, James Lick 6.7) so any points scored will be well earned.

James Lick will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Santa Teresa extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Saints never let Overfelt get on the board and left with a 25-0 win. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Royals are ranked 694th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, James Lick won against Independence on Thursday with 13 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Comets walked away with a 13-6 victory over Gunderson. While the Comets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

James Lick's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Santa Teresa, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Santa Teresa beat James Lick 7-0 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
