Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Winfield

Winfield had won five straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped up to 29-12 to make it six. They were the clear victors by a 27-12 margin over the Sulligent Blue Devils. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 16 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

As for Sulligent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

For Sulligent's part, Anna Claire Baughn and Emma George stepped up to the plate in a big way. Baughn went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles, while George went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. KK Turner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Winfield will face off against Madison Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sulligent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
