Basketball Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Diboll Lumberjacks, falling 46-23. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1306th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 323rd).

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Diboll, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Newton will face off against Woodville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Diboll, they will challenge Pollok Central at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
