Football Recap: Osceola Comes Up Short

Osceola lost against Archangels Catholic back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs had to suffer through a 56-14 loss at the hands of the Defenders. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-8.

Jackson Winslow threw for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes. Brayden Santos was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and one score.

It was another big night for Gavin Geilenkirchen, who rushed for 114 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 41 receiving yards for Archangels Catholic. Geilenkirchen is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Ethan Wieseler, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Osceola's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Archangels Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Osceola will venture away from home to face off against Howells-Dodge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Archangels Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Geilenkirchen and Cael Dubas.
